2024
Annual Meeting

October 18th
Opelika Public Library
1100 Glenn St, Opelika, AL 36801

Keynote Speaker - Lisa McNair

The Society of Alabama Archivists is honored to announce that Ms. Lisa McNair will be the keynote speaker at the 2024 Annual Meeting. The event is proudly sponsored by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Ms. McNair, the sister of Denise McNair who tragically lost her life in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in 1963, authored a compelling book that sheds light on this pivotal event which drew global attention to the struggle for equal rights in the South. During her keynote address, she will share insights with archivists from across Alabama on the extensive archival research that informed her book. Ms. McNair will delve into the process of documenting historical records, structuring her narrative, and incorporating photographic evidence sourced from her father’s meticulously maintained card catalogue.
